Harvey William Jones

1917-2008

“Never Had A Bad Day Yet”

 MAGNA-Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Harvey William Jones passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at his home.

            He was born on July 27, 1917 in Magna, Utah, the eldest of three sons born to William Henry and Clara Coon Jones.  Attended local schools and graduated from Cyprus High in 1935.  He married his childhood sweetheart, Helen Reid on December 16, 1936; their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

            Harvey retired as a sheet metal worker from Kennecott Copper after 46 years of service.  He and his wife previously served in the England Bristol Mission as well as the Jordan River Temple.  He also served faithfully in many ward and stake callings.  His favorite times were those spent with his family telling them about the “good old days”.

            He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Helen; daughters, Marjorie (Gaynor) Pearson, Kathleen “Kathy” (Kent) Bowen, Shirley Fowlks; son, William H. “Bill” (Shaunna); 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Chester “Ted” Jones.  Preceded in death by parents; brother, Earl; and son-in-law, Ned Fowlks.

            Special thanks to the care-givers of Good Shepherd Home Care & Hospice, especially Nicole, Le Ann and Carol.

            Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 at the LDS Chapel at 8059 W. 2700 So., where friends and family may call both Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday 10-10:45 a.m.  Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.  Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com.
