Debra K. Christensen 1951-2008
MAGNA-Debra Kay Dixon Knudsen Christensen, our faithful mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend passed from this life into the arms of her Father in Heaven after a courageous battle with cancer on March 28, 2008. She was born November 2, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James Ronald Dixon and Nona VeYonne Campbell. She is the 1st child of 6 children. She was known to her family as being a “Tomboy”. She would give anything to be outside. She loved playing softball, camping and working in her yard and garden. She graduated from Rick’s College with a Nursing Degree and later on from LDS Business College. She found great satisfaction in caring for the needs of others in the Nursing profession for over 35 years. On April 27, 1973 she was blessed to marry her sweetheart, John George Knudsen Jr. in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 5 wonderful years together when her husband passed away from cancer, breaking her heart. She took on the added responsibilities of being a single mother with determination and was able to find much laughter and happiness being with her children. She later married Kenneth James Christensen on April 6, 1993 in the Jordan River Temple once again filling her life with love and happiness. This too however, ended with his tragic passing after 7 years of marriage. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a fervent testimony of Jesus Christ that only increased despite the many trials that came her way. She faithfully served in all her callings, including the Primary, Young Women’s program and most recently as Relief Society President. She opened her home to everyone; her family and friends were her life. All who knew her loved her. Our hearts are broken, she will be sorely missed. She is survived by her parents, Ron and VeYonne Dixon; her in-laws, John and Goldia Knudsen; children, Rhonda (Bill) Christensen and Bobby Christensen; siblings, Janice (John) Morgan, Brent Dixon, Linda (Kim) Hood, Nancy (Shawn) Bennett, Donnie (Wayne) Christensen and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She leaves behind 3 loving Grandchildren who adored her, Zachary, Katelyn and Alyssa. They will deeply miss their Grandma Debbie. We love you! Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 1st at 11:00 am at the Spencer 1st Ward Chapel, 3084 South 8400 West.
