JERRY DEE CHRISTENSEN

Jerry Dee Christensen passed away peacefully on June 7, 2012 surrounded by his family due to complications from diabetes.  Born September 5, 1945 to Dell A. & Ella Draper Christensen and raised in Magna, Utah.  Jerry married Sylva Ann Gillins on April 9, 1965.  Jerry is survived by his wife Sylva, sons Jeff (Kerri) WVC, UT & Don (Cheryl) St. George, UT , five grandchildren Dustin (Kaylee), Garrett, Austin, Kylea, Logan and one great grandchild Benson, his mother Ella Draper Christensen and two brothers Dean (JoAnn) & Rex (Daryn), and many nieces and nephews.  Jerry was preceded in death by his father Dell A. Christensen.  After graduating from Cyprus High School class of 1963 Jerry worked at the Kennecott Copper Refinery.  He then returned to school and achieved an Associates Degree in Computer Science from Salt Lake Community College and obtained a job with Medical Software Systems writing software. Jerry worked at Overton Power District #5 where he retired as the purchasing agent in 2008.  Jerry was strong willed, driven & meticulous as proven by the trades he entertained, he was a skilled craftsman & mechanic and definitely someone you wanted to have on your side. He had a great thirst for knowledge.  He enjoyed spending time with his family & friends. 

Thank you to the many medical professionals at Dixie Regional Hospital & Promise Hospital that provided Jerry with such great care. Services will be 10 am Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the LDS Church at 10 North Arrowhead, Mesquite, Nevada, A viewing will be Monday, June 18^, 2012 6 – 8 pm at the Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E.
