Our sweet mother, grandmother and great-grandmother returned peacefully home to God on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Anne was born October 24, 1931, to Italian Immigrant parents Nicolo Caruso and Angela Domenica Di Sibio in Joliet, Illinois. She was the second of five children: Assuntina (Sue), Anthony, Rosealie (Rose), and Antonetta (Antoinette). She resided in Joliet until she was 16. Her family then moved and settled in Magna, Utah. Anne graduated from Cyprus High School class of 1949 and went on to attend LDS Business College, where she learned secretarial skills. During a trip to visit cousins in Joliet, Anne met and fell in love with Bruce Neal Wallwork. They were married in Magna, Utah October 23, 1954, where they lived until shortly after their first child, Steven was born.
In 1957 they moved back to Joliet for a short time where their second child, Karen was born. In 1959, Anne and Bruce moved to Phoenix, Arizona where their third child, Sandra was born and completed their young family. It was here where Anne began balancing being a mom and a working woman when she secured a job with General Electric. 1966 brought about another move, this time to Portland, Oregon where Anne worked for the Veteran’s Administration hospital.
In 1969, after 15 years of marriage, Anne and Bruce divorced. Anne and her children moved back to Magna to be close to family so she could continue working to support her family. Over the next forty-five years, Anne worked for Kennecott Copper, Hercules, and ended her career working for Our Lady of Lourdes parish, where she was an active member for many years.
Anne loved her family, never missed a birthday by sending cards with crisp-new bills, loved the color pink, family get-togethers, making pizzelles, and feeding her family delicious spaghetti and meatballs. Anne’s friends were very important to her and made regular efforts to stay in contact with them, especially chatting on the phone, a favorite pastime of hers.
Anne is survived by her children, Steven and Robyn Wallwork, Karen Zamudio, Sandra and Dave Wallwork Baker; grandchildren, Randy (Stephanie) Wallwork, Katie (Kyle) Hildreth, Tawny (Justin) Cruz, Taylor (Ethan) Beckstrand; great-grandchildren, Audrey (Marcus) Mortensen, Natali, Emily, Kathryn Hildreth; Camille, Sabrina, Ashley Wallwork, Avery Carlston, Hailey and Arlo (Cruz); her sister, Antonnette Swasey, and brother-in-law, Fred Perfilli, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Angela Caruso, brother Anthony, sister and brother-in-law Sue and Ted Pasternak, sister Rosealie Perfilli, and brother-in-law Larry Swasey.
Our family wishes to express their appreciation to all the caregivers who cared for our mother by allowing her to have the independence, respect, and dignity she deserved.
