Billy Maes

Belarmino “Billy” S. Maes, age 84, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A longtime resident of Magna, Utah, Billy was born on September 30, 1941, in Saguache, Colorado, to Miguel and Antonia Maez.

Billy married the love of his life, Emma Maez, on May 4, 1963, in Midvale, Utah. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and devotion.

Billy served in the U.S. Army/Air Force Reserve and later dedicated 25 years as a pastor at Magna Christian Church, where he joyfully shared the word of God with anyone willing to listen. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he carried it with warmth, humor, and unwavering conviction.

Before becoming a pastor, Billy was a talented musician, playing in a band and filling every room with music and joy. He was a man of many trades—working in construction, fixing cars, building trailers, and eventually retiring from the Salt Lake County Library. If something needed fixing, Billy was already on his way.

Billy loved the outdoors—golfing, camping, fishing, and riding horses in his younger years. He adored his little dogs, who were his constant companions. He had a lifelong dream of owning a Corvette and never missed a chance to joke around or brighten someone’s day. Above all, Billy cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great‑grandfather, and friend. His love for his children and grandchildren was immeasurable.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; three brothers; and his beloved children Billy Patrick Maez, Troy D. Maez, Steve G. Maez, and Stacie N. Maez.

He is survived by his wife Emma; grandchildren Gabriel Maez, Darian Maez, Jessica Maez, and Kenneth Schultz; great‑grandchildren Tanian Bodily, Forrest Maez, and Alex Tuefferd; and sisters Dorothy Velasquez and Gertrude Manzanares.

His family expresses their deepest gratitude to Shawntell Maez, who helped tremendously; Angie, his nurse; Maria, his caregiver; Kianna, who came to sing with Billy; and the compassionate team at Symbii Hospice. They also thank the many family members and friends who visited and offered support.
