January 1967 - April 2026
Boyd Jay Fowles “Jay”, age 59, left us quietly and peacefully from his home on April 8th. He was surrounded by his family and loving friends. Jay's departure was due to complications from his fight with FTD.
Jay was born to Jay Dean and Delene Hunter Fowles in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 5th, 1967. He grew up in Sugar House, where he was surrounded by wonderful friends. Those relationships he forged continued throughout his life.
While attending Highland High School, Jay found his love of woodworking. He built beautiful tables, bed pedestals, and other woodworking projects. He also excelled in many sports like skiing and bowling. His senior year, he found his first love, which he purchased right after graduating, his 1985 maroon Volkswagen Golf. He would often be seen on Saturdays cleaning it or putting in a new sound system. You could always hear Jay coming down the street singing to his favorite 80’s rock band. He found love and joy in all of his pet cats, especially Kina, Maxie, Friday, and most of all Lighting, and of course his dog Reggie.
Later, he graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Business Information Systems. But he always received the most reward in working with his hands and providing service to others.
Jay was super proud of his family and loved them dearly. There was never a gathering of any kind where he did not tell everyone about his amazing sons and how proud he was of each of them. Jay had a deep faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He talked often about how great it would be to live as a sealed family on the other side of the veil.
Jay is survived by his first wife Vanina E. Peme, and his current wife Kristina M. Fowles; his children, Austen Jay, Brayden Ricardo; his stepchildren, Dominik Fowler, Devon Fowler, and Alex Fowler; siblings, Cori (Adam) Adams, Jason (Monica) Fowles; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved so much.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, Jay Dean Fowles (1977); his mother, Delene Hunter Fowles (1990); sister, Carrie Lynn (2015); and brother, Scott Arthur (2017). Jay left many memories for us to cherish and enjoy. He will be greatly missed, but we take comfort in knowing he is finally with his Dad, singing old 80’s rock ballads and playing with Reggie. The world is a better place because of him. Jay, we love you and look forward to the day that we do “all live as a sealed family.”
Funeral Services will be held on April 17th at the Magna Utah Stake Center, 8400 West 3084 South. There will be a viewing from 10:30 - 11:45 the Funeral will follow directly after.
We would like to thank his medical team over the past few years for the kind care they provided Jay. Most of all, we want to thank his wife, Kristina, for her love and support, and all of her family who joined the fight without hesitation. Brandi, Marjorie, and Linda, you were his angels to the end. Thank you.
