Clifton Thomas Belliston

“Cliff Belliston Died”

Clifton “Cliff” “Mick” Thomas Belliston – He finished his longest and toughest ride on the 11 th of May 2016 and made the eight seconds in style.  Cliff was born on October 5 th 1933 in Nephi, Utah to Thomas Clifton and Leora Carlson Belliston.  He was the fifth of six children.  Growing up, his family didn’t have much money so he learned to work at a young age.  Cliff first started working on his neighbor’s farm at the age of eight. During his teenage years he began breaking horses - which started his love of rodeo.   He was drafted into the Army where he served his country and had the opportunity to see the world.

Cliff was a true cowboy.  He loved everything about horses, cows, and rodeo.  He started his rodeo career by riding and fighting bulls.  At the age of twenty-five he became the first man from Nephi to win the bull riding event at the Ute Stampede Rodeo. Cliff would go on to rodeo for over 65 years, during which time he helped many cowboys win in both the calf and team roping.

The only thing Cliff loved more than rodeo was his family.  He married Judy Cleone Carlston on February 20 th 1960. Later they would seal their marriage for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.  Together they raised 5 children.  His family has many fond memories of spending their summers together traveling to numerous rodeos.

Tragically, after 47 years of marriage Cliff lost Judy to a long courageous battle with cancer. After her passing Cliff married Channa Oyler Montage on March 26 th 2008 in the Salt Lake Temple. He helped raise her three daughters and helped deepen their love of horses and rodeo.

Cliff was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and he served faithfully in many callings.

Cliff is survived by his wife Channa.  His 5 children Wendy (Matt) McClellan, Sherry (Thom) Larson, Gary (Chellie) Belliston, Troy (Corinna) Belliston and Randy (Ashleigh) Belliston.  His 3 Stepchildren Candace (JR) Groberg, Chantel ( Andy) Mahina and Chelsea  Montague.

18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy, parents, sister, Bonnie, brothers; Gordon, Keith, and 2 stillborn brothers.

A special thanks for the amazing care Cliff received from Alpha Home Health and Hospice especially from Debra for her loving care.
