Cline Mills

Cline Mills, 83, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, in West Valley City, Utah. Born on July 11, 1942, in Price, Carbon, Utah. Cline lived a life marked by dedication to his family, hard work, and a deep love for sports and the outdoors.

Cline graduated from Piute High School in 1960, where he enjoyed playing basketball as part of the school team. His passion for sports continued throughout his life as an avid fan of televised games. He loved watching football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, gymnastics, figure skating, horse racing—nearly every sport, really, except maybe golf. His enthusiasm for athletics was matched by his commitment to cultivating a garden each year.

After high school, Cline served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was later honorably discharged and carried with him a sense of pride in his service.

Cline worked for many years as a cement carpenter with Gibbons & Reed/Granite Construction and was a member of the Carpenter's Union for over 50 years. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and was especially proud of the wall he built alongside I-215. Cline’s work ethic and dedication were evident until his retirement due to disability in 2002.

Cline was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 12 November 1950. In July 17, 2010, he received his endowment in the Oquirrh Temple alongside his grandson Steven—a moment that held special significance for him.

Family was at the heart of Cline's life. Cline married Rena Gayle Snodgrass on October 8, 1966. He shared nearly six decades of marriage with his beloved wife, Rena. Together they raised four children: Valerie Aileen (Trent) Hunt, Pamela June Mills, Rebecca Helen Mills (October 24, 1973 - October 17, 1983), James Cline (Jen Anderson) Mills. He cherished his grandchildren—Mercedis, Steven (Samantha), Taylor (L.B), Chalyse (Ethan), Ashton, Triston, McKenzi (Jorge), Alexis (Bryson), Kylee, Jordan, Sage, Taiten (Abbie), Dalyn (Catherine) and Londyn —and delighted in spending time with his great-grandchildren: Kaidyn, Leo, Asher, Blake, Tesla, Carter, Ezra, Tony, Callum, Quinn—with three more expected before year’s end.

Cline also treasured time spent with his siblings and extended family. He is survived by his brother, Glen Mills; sister, Lorna Gail (Paul) Wood, and sister-in-law, Carole Fabrizio; and numerous nieces and nephews who were dear to him.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ruben Horsley Mills and Lorna Sudweeks; stepfather, Melvin Mills; siblings, LaJune Mills, Mavin Mills, Len Mills; brothers-in-law, Robert Snodgrass, Danny Fabrizio; sisters-in-law, Loa Bagnell Mills, Bonnie Hayward Snodgrass, and Deanna Webb Mills; brother-in-law, Wilford Nielson; nephew, Cory Mitchell Snodgrass; niece, Shauna June Nielson; and half-siblings, Jay, Henry, Elven, Margaret and Dale.

One of Cline’s favorite traditions was gathering annually with his siblings and parents at their family homestead—a tradition he continued even this past April despite needing a walker. These gatherings brought him immense joy as he connected with loved ones and celebrated their shared history.

Cline had a unique gift for giving nicknames and singing songs to those he loved—a small but meaningful way he expressed affection for family members. His warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Viewings will be held Sunday, June 7th, 2026, at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W Magna Main Street, Magna, UT, from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. and Monday, June 8th, from 10:00-10:45 a.m., just prior to the funeral services at 11:00 at the LDS Chapel at 3836 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT.
