Cynthia Coon

October 16, 1954 — April 17, 2018

Cynthia Zobell Coon 1954-2018

Our Beloved Wife, Sister, Mother, and Grandmother passed away in her home on April 17, 2018 from liver failure after a six month fight with liver and bile duct cancer.

Cyndy was born on October 16, 1954 in Salt Lake City to Jack Richard Zobell Jr. and Colleen (Odell) Zobell.  After graduating from Cottonwood High School she attended the University of Utah where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She was married and sealed to Michael Walter Coon in the Salt Lake Temple on September 8, 1977. They raised seven children together.

She worked as a school teacher for over 30 years, teaching pre-school through 3rd grade throughout her career.  She loved her family and enjoyed having all of her children and grandchildren over for Sunday dinners and family parties.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of her savior, Jesus Christ.  She served faithfully in many church callings, such as teaching Sunday School, Primary classes, cub scouts, and serving in the Primary Presidency many times.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Coon; her children Adam Coon and (Adam Applegate), Matthew and (Launa) Coon, Heather and (Clay) Chorn, Joshua and (Jennifer) Coon, Zachary Coon, and Brady Coon.  She is also survived by her four brothers; Randy and (Susan) Zobell, Richard and (Lynnette) Zobell, Lance and (Cathy) Zobell, Blake and (Susan) Zobell; and her nine grandchildren; Kylie and Alexis Coon; Robert, Aili, Kelly, and Rebecca Chorn; and Evelyn, Jolene, and Beren Coon.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Colleen Zobell, and her daughter, Megan Coon.

We would like to thank all of the doctors and hospice workers that helped take care of her.
