Dana Jones

Dana Jones, 68 years old, passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2026, with the love of his life by his side in their home.

He was born in 1957 in Buffalo, New York, to June Crouse Jones and Herbert Wallace Jones. Dana married his high school sweetheart, Judi Henroid, on October 6th, 1977, in Bountiful, Utah.

Dana made many strong friendships during his time working as a warehouseman/forklift operator at Zellerbach (46 years) and several other companies. Dana's true passion was found while serving the community of North Salt Lake as a volunteer firefighter. While his time as a first responder lasted 5 years, he found a love of helping others. Dana went on to serve his communities by volunteering for the American Red Cross (Disaster Services), the West Valley City C.E.R.T. Program, the 2002 Olympic Games Community First Aid Program, and in his final years, he enjoyed assisting local Fire Departments, EMS Services, and Hospital systems to teach Trauma services by providing medical moulage (simulated burns and injuries to assist in the teaching process). He made many friends through all of these activities and held those friendships close to his heart.

Dana is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judi Jones; son, Kory Jones; granddaughter, Lilly Lanktree (Morton); and granddaughter, Rachel Nowlin (Jones).

Dana is preceded in death by his oldest son, Jason Jones; brothers Dan and Louie; and his parents.

Dana's family would like to ask any of his friends & colleagues who have ever served as a first responder (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Dispatch, Military or Hospital Services) to please wear their uniforms in honor of Dana's service to his community.

A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Green Cemetery on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 11:00 am, 9200 West 3500 South, Magna, Utah.
