Darel Orton Olsen

Darel Orton Olsen, son of Stanley and Evelyn Olsen, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on the afternoon of August 21^st, 2023 at the age of 85, in Saint Mark’s Hospital, Salt Lake City, UT. He’s survived by his wife Barbara Cavaness Olsen, his children Thomas Olsen, Keith Olsen (Kandy), Gae Van Orden (Bryan), Philip Olsen (Marcela), Joan High (Bill), 28 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. His sisters Emma Lee Peterson, Delila Jensen, Eva Ruth Jones, Doniela Shoemaker, and Georgia Lynn Bray. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carol Dean and his brother Lamont.

Darel was born in Lehi, UT. His biggest passion was being outdoors fishing, hunting, and boating with family and friends. He was everybody’s hero because he loved to rescue people. Darel would drop everything to go and help his family and others.

The family invites you to join them for a Viewing service that will be held in Darel’s honor on Sunday, August 27^th from 5 pm to 7 pm at Peel Funeral Home (8528 W 2700 S, Magna, UT).

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on August 28^th at the LDS Chapel located at 481 E 300 N, Lehi, UT.
