Mose Dee Watterson, aged 80 years old, very suddenly and peacefully passed from this earthly life surrounded by his family on Saturday April 15th, 2023 in his Hurricane, Utah home.
Dee was born on March 19th, 1943 to Mose Biggs Watterson and Mary Lois Nielsen.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1961 and attended Salt Lake Community College and was a Carpenters Apprentice. He worked for his Uncle Joe installing bowling alleys.
He served an LDS Church mission to Toronto, Canada in 1963. He served in Sault STE Marie, Windsor and Leamington Canada. For health reasons he was transferred to the Southern California mission, where he served in Bakersfield Ca, Henderson Nevada, Tucson, Phoenix, Globe and Miami Arizona until returning home after honorably completing his mission in March of 1965.
He married the love of his life, Diana Louise McGee, Daughter of Solon & Louise McGee on March 10th, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been married 57 years. To this union was born 10 children, MarDee, Schenel, Scheneil, Doyle, Dustin, Dora, Jared, Kimberly, Benjamin and Neil.
He was a member of the Magna Mount Riders for several years. He raced his horse Stormy, participated in different horse riding events, and many parades. He volunteered many years on the Days of 47 Rodeo Committee and received a 15 year belt buckle in honor of his many years of service.
Dee served in many church callings over the course of his life and loved helping and serving others. He was a very hard worker and was self motivated. He loved people and talked to everyone he came across.
He received his Duty to God Award, Master MN Award. He worked many years in the scouting program, and was a wood badge scouter. He traveled to England to receive his wood badge award at Gilwel Field on Brown Sea Island where the scouting program began. He loved working with and teaching the young men different scouting skills.
Dee worked as a brakeman, switchman, conductor and engine foreman on the Kennecott Utah Copper Company Railroad for 23 years. He loved riding trains and rode them every chance he got in different places he visited with his wife, Diana. He was a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. He loved hunting in his younger years. He also enjoyed fishing, carving walking sticks and traveling. He traveled to many places in the world, and especially enjoyed visiting Israel, the Holy Land and The Isle of Man where his family came from.
Dee loved his wife and children. He loved life and the great outdoors. He loved animals, enjoyed working with horses and running a small farm with his family.
He leaves behind his loving wife Diana, Daughter MarDee (Matt) Schoenfeld, Son Doyle Lee (Deena) Watterson, Son Dustin D. (Rosie) Watterson, Daughter Dora Watterson, Son Jared Todd (Kenzie) Watterson, Daughter Kimberly (Paul) Hook, Son Benjamin J. (Caren) Watterson, Son Neil S. (Nikki) Watterson and Daughter Marie (Steve) Ferre, 30 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grand Children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mose Biggs Watterson and Mary Lois Nielsen, twin Daughters Schenel and Scheneil, Granddaughters Beth Ann and Fiona Watterson.
Special Thanks to Dr. Trenton Overall and to Alliance Hospice for the last few days, especially Monique for her loving care, respect and being a great help in our difficult time.

A viewing will be held on Friday April 21st, 2023 at Peel Funeral Home located at 8525 W Magna Main Street Magna, UT 84044 from 6-8pm.
A short viewing will be held at 12:00 PM prior to Funeral Services on Saturday April 22nd, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Magna Utah Stake Center located at 3084 S 8400 W Magna, UT 84044.
