In Loving Memory of
Dennis Melvin Whetten
1949-2025
Our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on October 21, 2025 in West Valley, Utah.
Dennis was born on November 1, 1949 in Safford, Arizona to Melvin J and Eunice Whetten.
Dennis married his beautiful soul mate, Kristine Hone on July 27, 1974 in the Los Angeles Temple.
Dennis served a mission for The Church of Jesus of Latter-Day Saints in 1968 in the Idaho-Montana Indian Reservation.
Dennis served in the United States Navy for 20 years as Hospital Corpsman. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Tooele Army Depot as a security guard. He faithfully served in many different callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved to sing and was inspired by all kinds of music. He loved to play softball and cheering for San Diego Padres. His favorite pastime was being with his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Kristine Whetten; Children: Kristal Robb (Jeremy), Darlene Spackman (Donald), and Denis Kurt Whetten (Rebecca) and grandchildren: Jonathan Robb, Austin Spackman, Alexander Whetten, Abbigayle Whetten, Dustin Spackman, Alistair “Scott” Robb, and Archer Whetten.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, his little brother Rusty, and his loving in-laws Tim and Beth Hone.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday November 5 at Loch Ness Building at 7035 W Loch Ness Avenue (3605 South), West Valley City, Utah 84128 from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on November 6 at 7035 W Loch Ness Avenue (3605 South), West Valley City, Utah 84128, with a viewing from 10:00- 10:45 a.m. with funeral at 11:00 a.m. He will be buried at Camp Williams at 1:00 p.m. with military honors.
