Donna Jean (Miller) Mendenhall departed her earthly existence at home in Magna on March 24, 2023, of causes related to her 13-year journey with dementia, attended by her devoted husband of nearly 58 years. Donna was born in Indianapolis, IN on September 20, 1943 to Larry and Clovis Miller and spent her early childhood years in Spokane, WA and later moved to Seattle, WA where she graduated from Garfield High School in 1961.
She met her future husband, Kirk in December 1964 at a bank where they were both working while attending the University of Washington. They were married in Moscow, ID on July 2, 1965, honeymooned on the Washington Coast, then settled in Seattle where their son, David, was born in 1966. They moved to Bountiful, UT in 1972, and lived briefly in San Rafael, CA where their daughter, Skye, was born in 1973. They returned to Utah briefly, then relocated to Boise, ID for 10 years. After returning to the Salt Lake City area in 1985, they moved to Magna in 2000, residing there ever since.
A wonderful, caring mother devoted to her two amazing children, Donna later worked in retail sales, was fond of gardening, pottery and many other crafts, and enjoyed family camping trips, especially to Southern Utah red rock country. She loved music of all kinds, especially classical, opera, and jazz; she also led Brownie troops in Seattle and Bountiful, and Cub Scouts in Boise.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her husband, Kirk; son, David (Angie); daughter, Skye (Todd) Sieber; grandchildren, Kara, Jade, and Ethan; and great-grandchildren, Carson, Madisyn, and Max, who all reside in the Salt Lake area; and sister, Barbara (Jeff) Davis of Seattle, and their children, Christopher, Sean, Kimberly, and Shannon.
Donna was such a dear to all our hearts throughout her long and winding final journey. The one true love of my life, she will be with us forever.
An open house celebrating her life is being planned at a future date and location to be announced.
