DOUGLAS GRANT DANGERFIELD

1922 ~ 2012

Douglas Grant Dangerfield, loving husband, father, and grandfather left this world January 28, 2012. It was a peaceful ending for this proud U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and active member of the LDS Church. Doug was born March 28, 1922 to Thomas and Edith Dangerfield in Garfield, Utah.  He married his cherished bride, Leone Burrell in the Salt Lake Temple October 2, 1946.

Doug retired from Kennecott Copper Corp after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Beehive Statesman Chorus and thoroughly enjoyed performing barbershop music and traveling with the group. Doug will be remembered most for his deep patriotism and unwavering loyalty to his country, flag, military service and those who served. He was a Coxswain of an LCVP landing craft in the South Pacific. He served as a member of the Standard Landing Craft Unit 18 and was honored to be host of the 1999 reunion in Salt Lake City, which was said to be "one of the best ever".  Until recently Doug would spend his mornings at McDonald's with his friends and Veteran buddies. He always had a special place in his heart for the former city of Garfield. He loved to be driven around the empty streets he grew up on and share stories of his former neighborhood.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Leona, sons, Scott, Craig (Julie), Kim, Rick (Cindy), daughters, Michelle (Scott) Dennis, Denise (Jorge) Navarro, 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, brother, Keith (Chloe), sister, Janice Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Daniel, brothers, Stan, Harold, sister, Dorothy Blackener.
