Frances M. Pettis

September 19, 1936 — October 7, 2022

Francis “Fran” Smith Pettis passed away on Friday, October 7th, 2022, from incidence of old age, & a broken heart.  She lost her best friend and husband just 6 days prior on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022.

Fran was born on September 19th, 1936, to wonderful parents, Charles A. Smith & Evelyn I. Hall Smith.  They preceded her in death as did her husband Lewis Mike Pettis, brother Ken Smith, sister Sharon Smith Andrae, daughter Susan Smith Larson, & granddaughter Heather Sackett.

She married & divorced Milton H. Smith, the father of her four children, Kathleen (Ron) Larsen, Dennis Smith, Cherie (Craig) Mills, & Susan Smith Larson.  From her children she had 9 beautiful grandchildren, plus many great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren.  She loved them all so much, & they always felt her love.

Her only surviving sibling is Patricia “Patty” Smith.

Her working career included hotel lounge management, country club manager & property manager.

In 1992 she retired & married her best friend, lover and soulmate, Lewis “Mike” Pettis.  The greatest, most caring, gentle & compassionate man.  She always wished they had met sooner so they could have had more time together.  “From the penthouse to the outhouse”.

Mike had 5 children from a previous marriage, Mike Pettis (deceased), Jodie (Nick) Huntsman, John (Michelle) Pettis, Anna (Mark) Verrinder, & Lew (Jenn) Pettis.  Mike also had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great-great grandchildren which she loved them all as her own.

Her interests were their home, yard, décor, & she’s also been called “the yard sale queen”.

Fran wished to be cremated.  A celebration of life will be held in her honor following her husband’s funeral on Friday, October 28th, 2022, at the home of Ron & Kathy Larsen.  In lieu of flowers, Fran said to go to lunch with someone you love & have a margarita.
