Fredrick Raymond Hyer

1946-2026

Fred Hyer of Holiday, Utah, passed away peacefully, holding the hand of his loving wife of 48 years. Fred was born March 19th, 1946, in Ogden, Utah to Bufort Raymond Hyer and Lorraine Harris. Fred was born the middle child of three and is survived by his two sisters, Margee (Lee), Karen (Dean). His loving wife of 48 years, Linn Schwinghammer Hyer, and his two sons, Matt(Jermey) and Patrick.

Born in Ogden, Utah, and raised in Tempe and Buckeye, Arizona, where they moved when he was a baby. Fred lived a very full life, including being a Vietnam combat vet, a child of the 60s, hitchhiking and roaming around America, until finally settling down in the Salt Lake Valley; when in 1972 his Volkswagen bus broke down, and he met the love of his life.

Spending most of his life employed as an Industrial plant Electrician and Instrumentation Engineer for Praxair. Loving husband, father, and uncle. He is best known for his sense of adventure, love of road trips, the outdoors, gardening, beer, his love-hate relationship with remodeling houses, and always being there when you needed a helping hand, an ear to listen to, a word of advice, or just someone to hang around with.
