GEORGE DANIEL AHLQUIST

1943 ~ 2022

George Daniel Ahlquist passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the age of 79. We are forever grateful for the many years we enjoyed his love, his smile, his laughter, his humor, his patience, his meekness, his kindness, his companionship and his service.

George was born on January 4, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Walter Daniel and Dorothy Mabel (Ogden) Ahlquist. He was raised in Garfield and Magna, Utah. He graduated from Cyprus High School, and went on to study and earn his Bachelor of Science at the University of Utah. He married Margaret Ann Hayes on February 7, 1969 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Together they raised two daughters, Natalie and Juliana, and two sons, Daniel and Jonathan.

His career in the insurance industry spanned 4 decades and included assignments in California, North Carolina, Utah and Washington. For 20 years, George also worked as a firefighter and emergency medical technician, as well as providing his services within youth sports. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served in various church callings. George regularly donated blood at the Red Cross, earning the 100 gallon badge after many years of donations. He had a passion for serving others and was a pillar of his community. If George could be helping someone, anyone, he always stepped up to do it.

George was preceded in death by his loving parents. He is survived by his loving wife; his four children; his 15 grandchildren; his siblings, Clyde, Danielle, Richard, DeAnn, and Elayne; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The Ahlquist Family would like to thank all the healthcare heroes at Aspen Ridge in Orem, UT, Bellaview Assisted Living in Lehi, UT, and Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT who helped care for George. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please consider a blood or financial donation to the Red Cross in honor of George.
