Glenna Waddoups Allen

Entered into eternal rest May 10, 2025.

Glenna Waddoups Allen, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, Aunt, and a wonderful, loving friend to all.

Glenna Allen, 92, passed away from kidney failure in her home in Utah, where she lived with her daughter.

Glenna was born at home, in the early hours of June 12, 1932, in Montpelier, Idaho. Daughter of Ireta Minerva Skinner and Edmond Earl Waddoups, she was the seventh of eight children. The family moved to a farm in New Sweden, Idaho, when she was about three years old. When she was twelve, the family moved to a house on Hill Street in Idaho Falls. Glenna was grateful for indoor plumbing and electricity. She attended Hawthorn Elementary, Eagle Rock Junior High, and Idaho Falls High. She received her GED in 1969 and graduated from Glenn Clark Secretary School in 1971.

Glenna met and married the love of her life, Lyle George Allen, as a senior in high school. They were married on December 31, 1949. The marriage was solemnized August 29, 1986, in the Idaho Falls Latter Day Saints temple. They were blessed with four children. This started a legacy that later became thirteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She supplemented the family income by working in the potato fields, as a school lunch aide, and waitressing. She loved spending time with her family. One thing she really enjoyed doing with family was going camping. She enjoyed needlework, quilting, reading, and genealogy.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many leadership positions; in the primary, the mutual, and the Relief Society. Glenna was most grateful for the opportunity to serve in the Idaho Falls Temple for eighteen years as an ordinance worker. She made many lifelong friends while attending a singles ward after Lyle passed away.

Glenna was a cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 while working at the Idaho National Lab, doing input data for cancer research. She had a lumpectomy and went through many treatments of radiation and chemotherapy. Our family is so very grateful for the many that rallied around her at that time and helped her survive.

Survived by her daughter: Dawn Butcher; three sons: Duane Allen, David Allen (Debbie), and Dennis Allen (Linda); Eleven Grandchildren: Greg Butcher, Jared Butcher, Cori Allen, Wendy Allen Wilford, Melissa Butcher Boynton, Leitha Allen Shetka, Amber Allen Larsen, Jennifer Butcher Nelson, Joshua Allen, Meisha Allen Neil, Amy Allen Lambert.

She is also survived by her thirty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews.

Preceded in Death by her parents: Ireta Minerva Skinner and Edmond Earl Waddoups; husband: Lyle George Allen; Son in-law: Robert Butcher; daughter in-law: Vickie Allen; grandsons: Adam Allen, and Jeremy Allen; sisters: Reta Earlene Wilde (Theone), Melba Gustafson(Carl), Sylvia Allen (George), Merle and Marian (a set of twin girls who only lived a few hours); Brothers: Earl Oran Waddoups and Billie Lee Waddoups.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Osgood ward house located at 7940 N. 35 W., Idaho Falls, Idaho, with a visitation one hour prior at 10:00 AM.
