Gwynne Hirschi  Ray

It was a rainy fall day (October 13, 2013), when Gwynne Hirschi Atherley Woolley Ray said her final good-bye to family.  She would have loved the fact that all of her children were there encouraging her to have one hell of a party when she got to the other side. On August 23, 1923, Mom was born to Orra and Warren Hirschi in Rockville, Utah (the best place on earth). She outlived three (maybe four) husbands and successfully raised seven children basically on her own -- Atherley's:   Sharon and David (deceased) Shank, Sandra O'Disho and Ted, and Patricia "Petey" and Kurt (deceased) Kochel; Woolley's -- Colin and Dianne; and Ray's:  Leslie Dumas, Monica and Larry Jensen, and Monte and Loretta Ray.  If you asked any of her children, they would tell you they were "her favorite."  She was a remarkable woman who loved her garden, her beer and her family (not necessarily in that order). Many thanks to Sheri and Dave for providing mom a wonderful home to live in for so many years.  During the last years of her life, she was well taken care of by her daughter, Leslie and her granddaughter, CeLee.  Thank you both for all the care you provided which allowed her to remain in the home she so loved. A special thanks to everyone at Hillside Rehabilitation Center who made the last year of her life so memorable. She will be missed by her children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, numerous (too many to count) great grandchildren and her brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 in the Rockville Town Cemetery, Rockville, UT. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com
