Janet Virginia Jemison

In Loving Memory Of

Janet Virginia Jemison

It is with full hearts that we celebrate the life of Janet Virginia Jemison, who passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, in West Jordan, Utah. Born in Salt Lake City on May 17, 1942, Janet was the beloved eldest daughter of Robert and Evelyn Jemison’s four children.

A graduate of West High School, Janet married at the young age of eighteen and became the proud mother of Tonee, Eldy, and Page. Though she later divorced, Janet’s resilience and unwavering love defined her role as the heart of her family. Her greatest joy came from being a mother to three, grandmother to seven, and great-grandmother to fifteen.

From her early days at LeVoy’s, where she rose from seamstress to upper management, to her long tenure at Western Foods, her dedication was unmatched. Janet’s heart was built for service and care. She devoted much of her life to volunteer work and caregiving, spending countless hours supporting others, especially her own mother, with whom she shared an inseparable bond. A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Janet lived her faith through acts of kindness and a genuine commitment to helping her community.

Known for her sharp wit, Janet kept her spirit bright and her sense of humor until the very end. Her favorite color was green, a fitting reflection of her warmth, growth, and vibrancy. Those who knew her best will forever remember her love of the holiday season, especially Halloween, when she allowed her seamstress talents to shine as she joyfully crafted costumes for her children. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Evelyn Jemison, her son, Eldy Tall, her brother, Kim Jemison, and her beloved great-granddaughters, Rylee and Avery. She is survived by her daughter, Tonee (Brian) Dunton and son Page (Paige) Tall, her brothers, Robert Jemison and Curt (Melanie) Jemison, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A viewing will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (8539 South 2200 West, West Jordan, Utah). Following her burial will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery (200 N St E, Salt Lake City, Utah). Guests are invited to come casual, comfortable, and full of love, just as Janet would have wanted.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Symbii Home Health and Hospice, and to her compassionate caregiver, M’Ofa KiLofia Masima Napaa, for their exceptional care and companionship.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, supporting research and care for those living with dementia, a cause close to her story and spirit.
