John Mike Holloway

September 18, 1956 — September 16, 2022

Emblem

John Mike Holloway, our beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, unexpectedly passed away on September 16, 2022. John was born in Pasadena, CA to Bobbie Mae and Gayle A Holloway on September 18, 1956.

John grew up in Temple City, CA with his sister Terry and his brother Rick. The three troublemakers had a wonderful childhood filled with love, laughter, and surrounded by family. John graduated from Arroyo High School, where he played in the marching band. Following graduation, he joined the Navy and served as a cook.

Upon returning from the Navy, John moved to Heber City, UT with his uncle, Cecil Holloway. He helped his uncle and family build a mobile home park. John met his first wife, Sue Wayman and they married in June 1981 in Heber City. They had three daughters: Rebecca, Jennifer, and Cindy.

John felt incredibly blessed to be a girl dad. His children were always a priority in his life, and he worked very hard to provide a happy home for his girls. His most memorable jobs were with the Disney Imagineering, Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah, and Tooele Sheriff’s Department as a crossing guard. He was very hard worker, and he was very well loved everywhere he worked.

John and Sue later divorced but remained friends. Years later, John met and married Sherise Harper. After John and Sherise divorced, John met and married Holly Lillian Beck for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in March 2016.

Anyone that knew John, knew a few things about him. Family was very important to him, and he was proud of his own. He enjoyed watching and talking sports, from the Dodgers to Nascar. He looked forward to eating ice cream while watching TV. He loved to talk about his service in the Navy and was very proud to be an American. He had a heart surgery in 1998 that changed his life forever, and he would tell everyone that would listen about how he survived a miracle.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Macala. He is survived by his wife, Holly; his daughters, Rebecca (Ray), Jennifer (Steve), and Cindy; his sister, Terry; his brother, Rick; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and so many others that were a part of his extended family.
