Kathleen Rees Memmott

1944 ~ 2014

Kathleen "Kathy" Rees Memmott was born on January 4, 1944 in Murray, Utah to Waldemar Rees and Olive Lena Johnson.  She died at her home in Magna, Utah on January 10, 2014.  Kathy married Ray R. Memmott on December 13, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Ray and Kathy had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  Kathy had worked for 20 years in the Salt Lake County Treasurer's Office, as a clerk, where she retired.  Kathy loved the Primary and all of the children.  This is where her heart always was as she lovingly served there for 58 years, and where she was currently serving at the time of her death.  Kathy was often found making handouts for her Primary class.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially the Primary children that she was currently teaching.  We know that Kathy had a joyous reunion with her parents; her sister, Sherry; and two grandchildren, Gavin Memmott and Brandon Christen, who preceded her in death.  Kathy is survived by her husband, Ray; children, Annette (Dan) Shrewsbury, Mark (Misty) Memmott, Annessa (Matt) McCormick, Craig (Peggy) Memmott, Annetta (Sheldon) Brimhall, and Paul Memmott; 24 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Laura) Rees and Daryl (Wendy) Rees; sister,  Taunya (Norman) Hoeppner; and aunts, Florence Jacobson, Vera (Ronald) Slaymaker, and Bonnie Lawson.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday, January 20, 2014 at the Pleasant Green Chapel, 8739 W. 3000 S. Viewings will be held in her honor Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S. in Magna, and on Monday from 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.  Ray has requested that in lieu of flowers, to please make a contribution to any Cyprus Credit Union in the name of Kathleen Memmott to help with expenses.
