Kathleen Lucille Sharp

Kathleen Lucille “Katie” Painter Sharp passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at the age of 96. Katie was born on August 3, 1930, in Stockton, Utah, to Glenn Gordon Painter and Anna Pearl Armstrong Painter. She was the seventh of nine children and grew up surrounded by the love and companionship of a large family.

On January 29, 1949, she married the love of her life, James Robert “Bob” Sharp, in Elko, Nevada. Together they built a happy home in Salt Lake City, Utah, while spending many cherished months each year on their beloved property in Robertson, Wyoming. After more than fifty years of marriage, they solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on January 29, 2003.

Katie is survived by her children, Randi McQuiston (Harry), April Wilson (Mark), Susan Collins (Gary), and James Murray Sharp (Jane); 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ruby Painter Worthen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Robert “Bob” Sharp; her parents; and her siblings, Linnie, Thelda, Glenn, Gordon, Verl, Darrell, and Betty.

Katie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She and Bob were always supportive of their children and grandchildren in every endeavor. Her family knew they could always depend on her for a listening ear, loving advice, and a helping hand. She was an exceptional cook and was famous among family and friends for her homemade bread, pies, candy, and countless other delicious meals. She loved babies and welcomed every new addition to the family with open arms and a loving heart. Katie loved camping and spending time in Robertson, Wyoming. Their property there became a gathering place where memories were made, and everyone felt welcome. Katie took great pride in her home. She loved sewing, making curtains and draperies, and crocheting beautiful afghans for her family. She carefully preserved fruits and vegetables and always kept plenty of food on hand for family and visitors.

More than anything, Katie cherished her family. Her strength, grace, and unwavering love were examples to all who knew her. Her life was defined by quiet service, steadfast love, generosity, and devotion to family. Those qualities made her truly extraordinary. We find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her husband, Bob. We love you, Mom. ❤️

We invite family and friends to join us as we remember and celebrate the life of our mom.
