Kenneth Alden Hales, 83 peacefully passed away on May 30, 2026 at his home in West Jordan Utah.
Ken was born on August 25, 1942 in Murray Utah to Alden and Vivian Hales. Ken married Linda Densley on October 28, 1960 in Salt Lake City. On June 24, 1978 they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.
He graduated from Murray High School in 1960. He went on to earn a degree as an Electronic Technician from Weltec Technical School. He spent 32 years as a truck driver. The last 10 years of his career were with Roadway Express, where he ultimately retired.
He was known by family and coworkers as a hardworking and honest man who gave his all to provide for his family. Often working long hours, he made sacrifices so he could retire early and spend more time enjoying life with the people he loved.
His capacity to love and support others extended far beyond his immediate family. Along with raising his children he welcomed 15 foreign exchange students into his home over the years, many of whom became lifelong members of his extended family. He treated them as his own, sharing his wisdom, humor, and kindness.
He found great joy in camping, raising and racing horses and being with his family. He was an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events. He especially loved the Utah Jazz and attending performances at Hale Centre Theatre. He also enjoyed cruising and vacationing with family and friends, creating many cherished memories along the way.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous church callings throughout his life. His service included serving as a member of the High Council, Bishop of the Mountain Shadows 3rd Ward, and alongside his wife as a Couples Service Missionary. His devotion to his faith and community touched the lives of many.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Linda Hales; children, Kaylyn (Mark) Elbert, Janean Hales , Austin (Holly) Speer and Alexander (Brenden) Larsen grandchildren, Jayson Franklin, Brandon Franklin,Olivia Elbert, Gabby Amodt, and Damian Amodt; great-grandchildren, Aiden Franklin, Kieran Franklin, Jaylin Speer, and Levi Parsons; and siblings, Ann Heath, Keith (Cindy) Hales, Utona (Cody) Moss, Bonnie (Kim) Brown, and Scott (Brenda) Hales.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alden Peter Hales; his mother, Doris Vivian Hales; and his sister, Doris Diane Hales.
A viewing will be held on June 5th from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 8136 S. Old Bingham Highway. Funeral services will be held on June 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same location, with a viewing that morning from 9:30 - 10:45 am.
Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Estates 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah
