Kenneth Morgan Simpson

Kenneth Simpson, 79, passed away on July 23, 2026 in his home in Magna, Utah.   

He was born on October 5, 1946 in Clarksville, Arkansas to Harry and Edna Simpson.  

Kenneth married Dorothy on February 14, 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

Ken worked various jobs; including security guard at the International Hilton. He was, on occasions when he was assigned to Elvis Presley’s suite. On March 16, 1972 he began working for Western Airlines, then for Delta Airlines and he continued to work for the airlines until his retirement.  

Ken’s accomplishments were many, including building sheds, decks, landscaping, finishing the basement area in their homes in Magna & Taylorsville. Ken received his Associates degree from Salt Lake Community College.  He pursued a career as a part-time insurance agent in hopes of having his own agency. 

He enjoyed coaching softball and baseball. Ken enjoyed golfing, fishing & camping. He played dominos, card games, and the 21 machines in Wendover.  He enjoyed watching old western movies and TV shows like GunSmoke and Wagon Train. Ken would take his grandsons shooting at target ranges.  Ken listened and offered sound advice to his granddaughter.  The last years of his life he spent a lot of time with all. 

On February 2, 1966 he was inducted into the US Army.  He served in Fort Riley, Kansas and Fort Ord, California. In Vietnam, he was in the 9th Division, 4th Battalion, 39th  Infantry.  His tour of duty ended on November 23, 1967.   

Ken is survived by his wife Dorothy, two children: Kristina and Michael, and five grandchildren:  Warren, Alexzandria, Tristen, Trevor and Robby. 

Ken was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Edna Simpson, his brother Jerry Bob Simpson and sister, Lana Campbell. 

With great appreciation, his wife would like to thank the Veterans Administration Home Health Team and the Active Hospice Home Heath Team for their excellent care. A special thanks to his nurse, Traci for her 5 years of service. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. The memorial services will begin in the Memorial Chapel at 10:00 A.M.  At the lower level, called the Niche, will be the Military Honors Flag ceremony, presentation, bugle, the American Legion gun salute and concluding with the placing of the ashes in the Niche. 

There will be a potluck gathering after at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church hall, 2864 South 9000 West, Magna; from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
