Kim J. VanderMeyden

Kim J. VanderMeyden, age 71, passed peacefully from this world at home, after a lingering illness, surrounded by loved ones on August 14, 2025.

He was born on October 22, 1953, at St. Marks Hospital to Ardell and Howard VanderMeyden. He spent his growing up years in Kearns, Utah. Kim was active in the scouting program, where he became an Eagle Scout. Kim served a full-time mission to central California, 1973-1975. When he came home from his mission, he became a scout leader while he was going to Salt Lake Community College, where he received a degree in refrigeration. In 1976, he met and married his wife, Micki, after meeting her at the "Terrace". They married in the Salt Lake Temple on July 1977.

Kim worked for several trucking companies until he became a private contractor for the Navy at ATK. At the same time, Kim was helping many young men achieve their Eagle Scout Award. He loved scouting, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He loved raising birds - like parakeets, finches, cockatiels, and many wild birds. He won awards for his birds. He also loved raising koi fish. He was a big BYU fan. Kim was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called to many leadership positions within his ward and loved helping his neighbors.

Kim is survived by his wife, Micki; his three sons, Aaron (Linda), Jared (Josh), and James; his sister, Debbie; his brother, Craig (Rosemary); and many nieces and nephews.

Kim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Karen and Cindy; and his brother, Lance.
