Kurt Lester Hales
1940 ~ 2021
Kurt Lester Hales of Magna, Utah, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2021 from causes due to old age. He was born April 23, 1940, in Salt Lake City, to Arthur B. and Cleo K. Hales. Kurt graduated from Cyprus High School in 1958.
Kurt served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963. He met Kathy Manning and they were married in 1965. Together, they had 3 children. Jeff was born in May of 1966, Wayne in March of 1969, and Lori in February of 1970. Kurt was always a hard worker. He was a long-haul trucker for most of his adult life logging over 2 million miles throughout his career.
In Kurt’s earlier years, he was an enthusiastic motorcycle rider (Harley, of course!) and he continued to ride throughout his life, while collecting many Harley Davidson shirts from all the places he visited. He loved football, and was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan, as well as a Utah Jazz fan.
Kurt worked hard and lived life on his own terms. As his health deteriorated this last year, a much softer side to him emerged. We will miss him.
A special thanks to the staff at Aspire Home Hospice and Paramount Health and Rehab for making his last days as comfortable as possible.
Kurt is preceded in death by his parents, Art (1972) and Cleo (2013), wife Kathy (1984), brother, Wayne A. Hales (2017), and son, Jeff Hales (2019). He is survived by his son, Wayne B. Hales (Cheryl); daughter, Lori Ramos, (Ray); and, sister, ReNae Rezac, as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
