Marc Simmons

Marc Emil Simmons was born August 6, 1954 to Nancy and James Simmons in Salt Lake City Utah. He died October 16, 2018 in Magna, UT with his family by his side.

Marc was raised in Magna, Utah and like the other men in his family started working at Kennecott Utah Copper where he was employed for 39 years before he took an early retirement when they had the landslide at the copper pit in 2013.

Marc married Kristine Gillette and from that union had a son, Jason Simmons. Kristine and Marc divorced but remained friends. Marc later married Vera Frye, and had four daughters Tesha, Jennifer, Dana and Nancy. Vera and Marc later divorced.

In Marc’s early years he loved to fish, hunt and hang out with his friends listening to music, his favorite band being the Doors. After his divorce from Vera his world was his girls that he raised as a single father with help from his grandparents and mom.  Marc loved to take his girls to RMR to watch the drag races some of the best memories were during this time. When he retired he loved spending time with his girls and their families. He was so proud of all his children and grandchildren.

He will be remembered as a man of a humble heart who loved his family more fiercely than he would ever make transparent.  He was known for his funny remarks and sarcastic humor. He had a name for his lawn mower, "The Beast"!

Marc is survived by his Mother Nancy, brother Paul, son Jason (Wendy), daughters Tesha (Juan), Jennifer (Joey), Dana (Neil), Nancy, 21 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends. Marc was preceded in death by his father, brother Val and two grandchildren.

We would like to thanks everyone who helped Marc during the last few months of his life. Especially his good friends Ken and Jay.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 26, 2018 with a viewing from 10:00 – 10:45 am at Peel Funeral Home 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, UT.  Interment:  Valley View Memorial Park
