In loving memory of Mark Joseph Sherwood | November 23, 1970 - June 16, 2025
Mark Joseph Sherwood passed away on June 16, 2025. Born the first and last child to Glen and Eileen Sherwood, he was raised in the Kirkland, Washington area.
As the youngest of seven by several years, Mark always kept up with the cool older kids. He enjoyed the best of both worlds—a big family with the perks of only-child treatment. Mark grew up creating spontaneous adventures, and continued to do so in adulthood.
Akin to Ferris Bueller, Mark was the popular class clown at Lake Washington High School, taking sportscasting to the next level, running for student body, and hilariously commandeering the morning announcements.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile, following in his brother Clayton’s footsteps.
Like his father, Mark worked at BYU’s newspaper, the Daily Universe. He sold the advertisements for the paper, which soon became and remained his favorite job to date. On the side, Mark performed as a standup comedian and Ninja Turtle, Michael Angelo, where he used nunchucks on skates at Utah’s Classic Skating locations.
As a bright-eyed graduate from BYU, he moved back East to start his beautiful family and career in sales and communications. Mark and his family later moved to Henderson, Nevada where he embarked on new adventures in his personal and professional life, including becoming an entrepreneur and state assemblyman.
In his later years, Mark cherished spending his free time playing sports and lively games with each of his children, always ensuring they felt supported and cared for. He had a remarkable gift for striking up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, brightening the mood in every room he entered.
He was predeceased by his parents Glen and Eileen Sherwood. He is survived by his four children Glen, Paige, Donovan, Brynn and Luke Staley, and their mother, Audrey; his siblings Barbara Conrad, Craig Evers, Shelly Loveless, Scott Sherwood, Cameron Sherwood and Clayton Sherwood; stepmother Peggy Sherwood.
