Marvin Earl Mangum

Our dear father, grandfather, great grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by people he loved on Sunday October 15^th 2023. We will miss him, but we know that he has now been reunited with his loved ones on the other side of the veil.

Marvin was born on April 25, 1940, in Blanding Utah. The youngest child of James Wesley Mangum and Ethel Mae Hawkins. Marvin’s main lifelong pursuit was music.  He could and did sing, played many instruments, taught elementary and Jr. High band and orchestra for 26 years and was known in the Las Vegas area as the singing bus driver.  Dad was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He was especially proud of his service as a missionary in Hawaii and was happy when his church callings involved being a choir director or chorister.  He loved fishing and camping, star gazing, playing cards, coloring, and arts and crafts.  He loved his family and his friends at the Magna Senior Center.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Mumford (Mangum); and eight of his ten brothers and sisters.  He is survived by his sister, Mae Crane; and his four children, Marilee Mangum (Roose), Thomas Mark Mangum, Mathew Earl Mangum, and Michelle Mangum (Fischer).  He had 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Monday, October 23, 2023 from 11-11:45 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 noon at the Pleasant Green Chapel, 8739 W. 3000 S., Magna, UT 84044. Interment: Herriman City Cemetery, 12465 Pioneer Street Herimann, Utah 84096.
