Mary Lynn Petersen, age 78, died peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, October 04, 2023.
Born June 24, 1945 in Tooele, UT to Elwyn and Anna Cluff Dymock. On July 02, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Michael Petersen. They had a wonderful life together, filled with many adventures.
Family was the most important thing to Mary. She and her siblings all bought houses within two streets of each other. It was a life filled with coffee on Sunday mornings, nieces and nephews running in and out of each other’s houses, back yard barbecues, summer days spent boating and camping, many fun trips, and building a foundation for a family that remains close and connected to this day.
Mary also loved aerobics and jazzercise, and at the age of 70, was determined to out jazzercise all the younger girls. She loved playing bunco, and there are so many who hold her in their heart with fond memories of how she touched their lives.
Mary had a long career as an executive branch secretary with GMAC. Over her 30+ years, she made many deep and lasting friendships, filled with good times and supporting each other through all of the ups and downs of life. They all remain friends to this day. After retiring from GMAC, she worked for BCBS and added to her friendships.
She is survived by her daughter Tori, grandson Trae, sister Shelley, Niece Jessica and husband Adam VanWagenen, their kids Tyler and Ariana, Shaylee and Devin, all of their littles who brought her so much joy, and nephew Brayden. As a family, they all came together to care for her in her final years. Special thanks to The Peaks in South Jordan and Bristol Hospice, where she was well cared for and loved by all who met her.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Michael S. Petersen, parents Elwyn and Anna, children Scott and Lyndee, and siblings Carole, Bobbie, and Vern.
