Maxine Benedict

February 12, 1932 — August 2, 2017

Maxine K Benedict, age 85, died peacefully August 2, 2017 surrounded by her family. Maxine was born February 12, 1932 in Tridell, Utah. She was the daughter of Joseph Levi and Blanche Cook Kitchen. She married James Montgomery, they were later divorced. She married Alfred Defa, he passed away in 1984. She married Fabian Benedict, he passed away in 1988.

Maxine worked at the Post Office, Smiths Food King, and she drove carts at the airport for TSA at the Southwest Terminal. She was every travelers favorite driver and was often requested. She made friends easily with everyone she met.

She had an amazing green thumb. Her garden was always overflowing with vegetables that she gave out to family, friends, & neighbors. Her flowers were always in bloom and she could revive any plant and make it flourish.

Her grandkids and great grandkids loved to visit her. She made each one of them feel special and loved. They all loved her popcorn balls and honey cookies. They never left her home empty handed or with an empty belly.

She never cooked for just herself. She was an amazing cook and only knew how to feed a crowd. She was known to make homemade popcorn balls to give out at Halloween. Everything that came out of her kitchen was special and delicious. Her germade recipe has been handed down and cherished by all who get to eat it. If you ever had a bowl of germade with her homemade bread you are truely one of the lucky ones.

She was a talented oil painter and loved teaching others to paint.

She loved getting letters from her great grandkids and would always reply. She had the most beautiful handwriting.

She is survived by six children, Kent (Linda) Montgomery, Diane (David) Morton, Steven (Mary) Montgomery, Russ Montgomery, JoAnn (Bryan) White, Clay Montgomery; siblings; Melvin (Verda) Kitchen, Ralph (Reba) Kitchen, LeaMae (Enes) Hatch, Weldon (Donna) Kitchen, 27 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, her siblings; Lazelle Glines, Frances Bartlett, Belva Chamberlain, Virginia Goodrich, John Kitchen, Norman Kitchen, her great grandson Tyler Keiver, and her long time furry companion Brandy.

The family would like to thank Heidi with Hearts for Hospice. You have been a blessing and brought so much joy to Maxine.
