Mayona Marie Zufelt Tippets

Mayona Marie Zufelt Tippets, age 82, passed away on May 24, 2025 in Tooele, Utah. She was born on March 27, 1943 in Kline, Colorado to Robert Leland and Dagmar Marie Slade Zufelt. She is their only daughter, being surrounded by 3 brothers, Cary, Gary, and Rodney, who adored her.

Mayona was raised in Kline, Colorado, with her family and all their adventures. They didn't get indoor plumbing until 1969. She graduated from Durango High School and worked in the Community Hospital in Durango, where she found her love of nursing. She then moved to Cedar City, Utah, to go to nursing school. She graduated from the College of Southern Utah Practical Nursing as an LPN on February 10, 1967. She loved nursing and helping others.

She married DeMar Miles Tippets on July 3, 1968, in the Logan Temple for time and all eternity. They were blessed with 2 sons, Ricky DeMar and Roger Dee. They lived in Magna, Utah, for 53 years. They were friends to everyone. Mayona was a very caring person and made sure everyone knew they were always welcome in their home. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She loved each calling: primary, Cub Scouts, Young Women's, and Relief Society. She served in the Jordan River and Salt Lake Temples. She loved serving in the temple. Mayona and DeMar served an inter-city mission and made many new friends, and loved it.

Mayona loved to play the piano, crafting, sewing, and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed playing card games. Together with DeMar they traveled all over the United States, took many cruises with friends, and went to antique car shows. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and supporting them in all they did.

She is survived by her brother Rodney Zufelt (Debbie), brother-in-law Ralph Tippets (Kathie), sons Ricky DeMar (Carrie) and Roger Dee (Kellie), 11 grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, DeMar; parents, Robert Leland and Dagmar Zufelt; brothers, Cary (Ione), Gary (Peggy); in-laws, Glen Harvey and Lida Miles Tippets; and sister-in-law, Shirley Bennett.

A viewing will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, from 9:00-10:45 AM, with the funeral at 11:00 AM at the LDS Church located at 8739 W. 3000 W. Magna, Utah.

Interment will be Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Preston, Idaho Cemetery, 1451 N. 800 E. Preston, Idaho.
