Merna Kelley Curtis

Merna “Kay” Kelley Curtis left her mortal body on August 10, 2022 at  the age of 75 and started her journey in heaven.  Kay was born August 1, 1947, the first child of Francis “Keith” and Merna Bates Kelley.  She spent her youth in Tooele, Utah and attended Tooele schools.  She was a member of the Tooele Pep Club.

On March 20, 1964 she married Jimmy Russell Lee and they had one daughter Jacqueline .  They were later divorced.  Kay worked for a short time at Tooele Army Depot where she met Glen C Dean. Kay left Tooele and moved to Magna, Utah. Kay and Glen were married Jun 17, 1967 and were  blessed with three children, Wayne, Richard and Glenna. Glen was killed in a car accident on Dec 12, 1978. 

Apr 18, 1980 Kay and Norman C Curtis were married and had one child, Kelli.  Norman also had 5 kids whom Kay became a Mom too. 

In Kay’s youth and early adulthood she was a member of the Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was very active. Through the years Kay became a member of the Catholic Church and for a time was active in the Our Lady of Lourdes parish. At the parish she went by Merna, but family and most old time friends know her as Kay.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Keith and Merna Kelley, her husband’s Glen Clifford Dean and Norman Cornelius Curtis, son’s  Richard Keith Dean, Jeffrey Curtis, Mark Curtis, daughter Lori Curtis and great granddaughter LeeLou Curtis.  She is survived by  daughters Jackie K Howard (Mike),  Glenna M Evans (Todd), Kelli J VanCampen (Joel), Jodi Curtis. Sons, Wayne C Dean  and Todd Curtis (Diane).  Brother William (Deniece) Kelley, Sisters, Judy Bori and Teresa Erickson (Eric). Also survived by 28 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren (with another due next month) and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing held for Kay at Peel Funeral Home,  8525 W Main Street (2700 S) Magna ,Utah  from 10-1130 AM and graveside services at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley, Utah at 12 PM on 25 August 2022.  Rest well, until we see you again.
