Myrl Hamp

March 20, 1950 — August 22, 2017

On August 22, 2017, our beloved father, companion, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at home after a valiant battle with cancer.
Myrl was born March 20, 1950 in Tooele, Utah to William R. and Mona Porter Hamp. He is survived by his loving companion, Debbie Coe Andreason, Deb’s mother Joann Coe (his other “Mommy”); the Mother of his children; Paula Montague Peterson. Son; Richard M. Hamp, Daughters; Tammy (Hamp) Shelton, Lori Hamp, Melissa (Danny) Lloyd. Siblings; Gerry (Geanie) Hamp, Tawny (Chris) Bandley, Tina (Mike) Shipman, Tori (Marty) Smith, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Myrl was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother; Brice Hamp as well as many extended family members.
He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors; camping, boating, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling and riding his Harley. His greatest pleasure was the time spent target and trap shooting with his grandchildren. Each grandchild and great grandchild stole his heart from day one.
Myrl loved to entertain friends and family. In his earlier years, he performed in a band “The Rhythm Masters” with his father, Brother Gerry and dear friend Jim. In his later years, Myrl and Deb ran karaoke at numerous establishments throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Anyone who knew Myrl knew he was quite a joke teller. You could always count on a great laugh whenever he was in your presence.
He looked forward to football season. Myrl was an avid University of Utah fan. He loved tailgating and cooking for his friends and family and truly cherished the time spent at the games with his life-long friend Al.
A special thank you goes out to Carrie and Jessica of CNS Hospice and all the staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for the loving, gentle care and support.
