Phillip "Mike" Michael Dorn

Philip Michael (Mike) Dorn passed from this earthly home to his next journey with our Father in Heaven.  He was 73 years old and was surrounded by his family.  He suffered with Parkinson’s for many years, but even though his health declined through the years, his spirit and love for our Father in Heaven never wavered.

He was born in Ely, Nevada on September 7, 1948, to Everett and Donna Olsen Dorn.  He graduated from White Pine High School.  Mike proudly volunteered to serve in the United States Army.  When he returned home, he married his high school sweetheart Millie Parry on March 7, 1970, and was later sealed for time and eternity.

They lived in McGill where they started a family.  They had 2 beautiful girls who Phillip loved with all his heart.  In 1987 they suffered the hardest loss when their oldest daughter Shelly died from brain cancer.

Through the years, Dad served many callings in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He attended Veterans meetings where he made tons of friends among his fellow Veterans.

His greatest accomplishment was watching his youngest daughter Mary grow up and be a great wife and mom and succeed in her everyday life.  He was so proud that Mary gave him 3 granddaughters.  Carly who was his “Sunshine”, Ashley who was his “Peanut” and Emily who was his “Angel”.  He would spend hours playing and reading with them. 

But boy oh boy was he excited when he learned he was going to be a great grandpa.  Seeing him with his great grandkids was his picture-perfect heaven.

He lived in Magna for many years.  He loved his neighbors and his ward family.  He made many friends who helped him get to church every Sunday.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the ward and friends who helped him in so many ways. 

Dad is now free from pain, free of his body that wasn’t working.  Free to hold his oldest daughter hand and together prepare for the time that us on earth will join them.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Mildred Dorn; daughter, Mary (Roy) Clarkson; granddaughters Carly (Troy) Anderson, Ashley (Charles) Mills and Emily Clarkson; great grandsons, Braxton, and Steven; great granddaughter, Rayleigh; sister, Donna Mae (Larry) Ingle; 2 brothers-in-law, John, and Richard Parry; sister-in-law, Eileen (George) Peel and his many, many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his daughter, Shelly, his parents, his brother, Pete, and the many loved ones who passed before him.
