Rachelle Irene Mutchler

Rachelle Irene Mutchler peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by love, on July 10, 2026, in Magna, Utah. She was born on January 6, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Ernest and Betty Irene Sloan.

Rachelle graduated from Granite High School in 1970 and was blessed with two children, Ty and Heidi, who quickly became the center of her world. She poured her heart into raising them, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.

She married the love of her life, Loren Mutchler on May 20, 1978, and together built a beautiful life filled with love, adventure, and family. Loren brought two boys, Cary and Kelly, into the marriage, and Rachelle loved and raised them as her own.

As a family, they loved spending weekends camping, riding dirt bikes, and making memories with friends. Those simple adventures became treasured traditions their children and grandchildren will never forget.

Family was Rachelle's greatest joy. As her family grew, so did her heart. Becoming a grandma and great-grandma brought her immeasurable happiness, and there was truly nothing she wouldn't do for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life.

One of Rachelle's favorite pastimes was shopping with the special women in her life—her beloved mom, best friend "Big D," her daughter Heidi, her granddaughters Janessa and Jade, and later her great-grandchildren. She proudly passed on her love of shopping to her girls.

Rachelle dedicated her career to women's health. Working at the FHP birthing suite where she served as a labor and delivery coach, helping welcome countless babies into the world. She also loved teaching healthy and safe relationships and never missed the opportunity to educate someone. Caring for others wasn't just her career—it was who she was.

She was an accomplished bowler who spent many happy years on leagues with her mom and later with Loren. Anyone who bowled knows how remarkable a 277 game is, and Rachelle achieved that incredible score more than once—a testament to both her talent and determination.

Rachelle was gifted in so many ways. She loved crocheting and sewing, often making beautiful outfits for her grandchildren. She enjoyed puzzles, computer games, music, and any gathering where family and friends could laugh together. Sunday dinner was no joke for this woman and her fried chicken was a family favorite, and no holiday ever felt complete without her famous sugar cookies.

What truly made Rachelle extraordinary was her generous heart. She quietly gave to those in need and never looked for recognition. While many people say they would give the shirt off their back, Rachelle actually did. She once gave the shirt she was wearing to a woman in need while helping provide life-saving support to her. That was simply who she was—kind, compassionate, and always willing to put someone else's needs before her own.

Rachelle was preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Sloan, and her brothers, Ray and Lynn Sloan.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Loren Mutchler; her children, Ty (Lori), Heidi (Jon), Cary, and Kelly; her grandchildren, Janessa (Taylor), Ryan, Jade (Edwin), Chase (Stephanie), Chelsea, and Sammy; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Hunter, Harlie, Logan, Loren, Layne, and Hazel.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home. The dedication to the grave will be held at the Grantsville cemetery at 1:00 p.m. In honor of Rachelle, please wear her favorite color, blue. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of CNS Home Health and Hospice, especially Mallorie, Tanner, and Cindy, for the compassionate care, dignity, and kindness they provided to Rachelle and her family during her final days.

Rachelle's beautiful smile, gentle spirit, unwavering love, and generous heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her greatest legacy is the family she loved so fiercely. The traditions she created, the lessons she taught, the countless memories she made, and even her famous sugar cookie recipe will continue to live on in the hearts of those who love her.

We will love you forever.
