Roberto Edgardo Moreno Aquino

Roberto Edgardo Moreno Aquino 1955 - 2025.

Roberto, 69, passed away on August 21st, 2025 in South Jordan, UT. He was born on December 13th, 1955 in San Salvador, El Salvador to Rene Moreno and Amalia Aquino. Roberto married Guadalupe Duran on February 26th, 1987 in El Salvador and they were sealed for time and all eternity at the Guatemala City Temple.

Roberto had a Bachelor's in Social Studies and a Master's in Teaching both from the Universidad Nacional de El Salvador. He taught Jr High, High School and at two private universities. Being in a classroom was his happy place. After that, he was the Director of the LDS Church Education System in El Salvador for almost 10 years. Shaping young minds and helping others learn was his true calling in life. He was a devoted member of the LDS faith and serving others was something that brought him much joy. Among his many callings, he served in the high council both in El Salvador and in Magna, UT. He served as a Bishop and Stake Young Men's Leader. One of his favorite teaching callings was as a Sunday School teacher at the Magna Hills Branch.

Roberto had a bubbly personality, easy manner and was a natural born leader. It showed as people were drawn to him in every aspect of his life. He always had a way to make people enjoy what they were learning. He enjoyed being a boy scout, playing basketball, watching baseball, listening to 70s music, and going to the gym. In his youth, he spent many years playing basketball at Barrio America and winning many championships. He was an excellent dancer, and music was always a part of his life as he learned to play piano at an early age. Roberto moved from El Salvador to Salt Lake City, UT with his wife and two daughters in 2003. As he left his teaching years behind, he worked at Backcountry.com as a quality specialist for over 20 years.

He was very respected and loved by all. He was the best father and grandfather. His five grandchildren all had beautiful relationships and many wonderful memories with Papa. He also treasured his role as an uncle, intentionally building strong and meaningful relationships with his nieces and nephews

Roberto and Guadalupe were married for 37 years. Their love and vision of bringing their family to the US is something that brought them many blessings.

He is survived by his mother Amalia, his wife Guadalupe, his brothers Ricardo, Rolando and Eduardo. His daughter Rebecca, his sons in law Ryan and Michael and his grandchildren Aurora, Matthias, Olivia, Ghideon and Francesca. And his son Juan Carlos.

He is preceded in death by his father Rene, his sister Chary and his daughter Rossana.
