"In Loving Memory"

Rosella Larue Hiatt Kilpack, July 15, 1926 - June 14, 2019

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Floyd Ellis and Anna Nilsson Hiatt, Rosella married William D Kilpack Sr, July 26, 1944. He proceeded her death 2014.

The second of seven daughters and two sons Rosella loved school and graduated Valedictorian.   She was an avid reader and lover of books and for many years volunteered with Brockbank Jr High School to help those who had trouble reading. She was a prolific writer sending letters to family and friends.  She was so thoughtful of the feelings of those around her making sure her quests felt welcome in her home.  She gave of herself to help others in the community.   Mom had a deep love for small children and babies. Each she made feel special because to her each were.

Married for 70 years her and her husband Don raised five children in Magna, Utah where aside from having a family farm they also had a photo studio which she managed while her husband worked a full-time job.  Summer’s they would plant a huge garden. They also loved the outdoors and built a family cabin in the La Sal’s which was like a second home to them. Between all this they’d take their family, and later their adult children’s families, boating at many lakes throughout Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming.  Lake Powell was their favorite.  Birthdays and holidays they would have big parties with families and friends.  These were fun times with lots of laughter and plenty of good food. They also traveled elsewhere visiting Alaska, Australia, Hawaii and New Zealand. In the 1970’s, with her only daughter, Debra, they took a group tour to Europe and the Middle East which they thoroughly enjoyed, especially sites in Egypt and Israel. Many times in her and her late husband’s eighties one could see what looked like an empty car from behind on the highway as they enjoy taking drives to Moab – that’s Utah – and elsewhere.

She lived a full life. Naturally she had peaks and valleys just as everyone else, but it never stopped her being a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend.  She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and loved them all very much.  While in a home in her final years she was still able to remain a beacon of trust, love, goodness, and stability for her family and friends. That said she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a brother Floyd Hiatt Junior, her sister Iris Whittaker, and her five children. William Jr (Jan), Darrell "Condemned", Kevin, Debra (Torsten) Andersen, and James (Diane); 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
