SCOTT GEORGE BROOKS

MAY 20, 1993- FEBRUARY 5, 2026

Scott, age 32, passed away on February 5, 2026, at his home in Magna, Utah.

He was born addicted to crack on May 20, 1993, in El Paso, Texas, to his birth mother. He was sent to foster care at six months old. There, with the loving care of his foster mom, he began to thrive and grow. At 22 months of age, he was placed with his soon-to-be forever mom. Scott has endured many physical and emotional challenges in his life, but if you met him, you would never know. He was always a happy, loving, and friendly soul. Scott loved sports of all kinds, but his favorite was basketball. He participated in Special Olympics for years and made lots of lifelong friends.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He attended a ward for young single adults. He loved all the members of his ward and stake. His favorite things to do were attend church, go to activities, play ball, and hang out with his buddies. His friends always included him, even when it was difficult to because of his disabilities. We, as a famil,y wish to thank his ward and stake family for the love and example they have shown Scott.

Scott was in the Chrysalis program that oversaw his group home. We wish to thank them for their love and support for the time Scott was in their care. He is missed by his staff and roommates.

Scott was the joy of his mother and father’s life. He kept them on their toes, that’s for sure. Our beloved boy is survived by his parents, Jerry and Heidi Hanson; his five stepsiblings (he adored Rachele and Aaron); his aunts; his chosen parents, AJ & Janet Morley; cousins, and many friends. He never met a stranger.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Ardelle Strong Brooks; his adopted father, Daniel Brooks; and his puppies, Snooper and Barkley.
