Selimo Elmer Padilla

March 18, 1940 — October 19, 2022

Selimo Elmer Padilla of Magna UT passed away with his family by his side on October 19, 2022, at 82 years old. Also known as Sal, he was born on March 18, 1940, in Costilla, New Mexico to Frank and Mary Padilla. He was the second oldest of 9 biological children and 2 adopted siblings. Selimo lived his younger years with his grandparents, Shone and Lina Padilla. In the 1950’s he moved with his family to Tooele, Utah; they eventually settled in Grantsville, Utah.
On July 14, 1962, he married his wife Elsie Marie Martinez, and enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. They had one son and three daughters: Frank, Dianne, Patricia, and Sandra. He lived out the remainder of his life in Magna, Utah.
Selimo enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He especially loved to dance to Spanish music every chance he got. He loved to tell stories about his beloved hometown of Costilla, New Mexico and his white horse Prince that went galloping, galloping, galloping, galp!
Selimo had a generous heart and was always willing to help anyone; he was a “jack of all trades.”
Baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1974, he was zealous in his faith and enjoyed talking to everyone about it.
Selimo is survived by wife, Elsie, son Frank (Darlene), daughters: Dianna (Tony), Patricia and Sandra (Rudy). 11 grandchildren: Kayla, Carlos, Eric, Jacob (Jessica), Stacey (Tyler), Mario, Sanicia (Sergio), Bernie (Evan), Angelo, Colton (Trisha) and Rudy. 15 great-grandchildren: Mateo, Brynlee, Bryar, Skylee, Adelina, Marina, Nadia, Talia, Ellie, Emmie, Marissa, Jeffeory, Bentley, Alexander and Rage. Siblings: Bernie Larson, Carmen Draper, Jim Padilla, Marilyn Danielson, Pamela Stearns, Bernice Ashworth and Trankie Padilla.
