On November 26, 2022 at 6:50PM a beautiful soul left this world and gained her angel wings.
Tess Chanel Kennell, born on May 20th 1987 at 3:27 AM, 6lbs 13oz 19 inches long at Holy
Cross Hospital to Christine Alexander Kennell (of Granger, UT) and Kevin Lee Kennell (of
Murray, UT) a true Taurian BULL came into this world like a bang, the doctor literally had to
catch her the day she was born.
Tess had a bright light within her that touched so many around her. She was one of the most
loving, caring, giving, compassionate people, who would give the shirt off her back or shoes off
her feet to anyone who needed them, even a complete stranger. She was taught from a young
age to never judge and practice unconditional love, which she lived out in her daily life. She took
people for who and what they were. A true, genuine friend who cherished her time with loved
ones and enjoyed making new memories with family and friends. She especially loved to BBQ
and play beer pong and would find just about any reason to celebrate and have a good time
with the ones she loved. She enjoyed watching sports, listening to music, going to live shows or
events, outdoor adventures like camping or lake days and experiencing all that life had to offer.
She was an avid pet lover who spent a lot of her time raising her dogs and cats and even
helping rescue and foster other animals over the years, which speaks volumes for the amount of
love she had in her heart to give and spread to others,
Tess was a graduate of Granite High School Alumni 2005, she went on to spend the past 15
years, working as a Security Officer for Allied Barton until she ultimately moved on to a random
opportunity that allowed her to find her niche with tools and building machinery for Wheeler CAT,
in their apprenticeship program, later ultimately moving into another apprenticeship program
finishing her career under Kennecott, which she took great pride in minus the struggles she had
to balance with her health complications.
Over the past 5 years Tess fought hard, as life presented her with some difficult health
challenges including multiple major surgeries, a pulmonary embolism with 2 blood clots and
suffered from seizures which really impacting her quality of life forever and that ultimately led to
her finding her peace as her body could not fight the way it needed to any longer, though she is
a warrior in all that she has been through. Preceded in death by her Grandmother Connie
Alexander and Father-in-law Jimmy Riojas Jr.
Tess is survived by her parents Christine and Kevin Kennell, Sister Tara Alexander, Brother
Terrence Kennell, 2 nephews and a niece (Logan, Lilyan and Laynn) whom she had a very
special and loving bond with along with her loving wife Arianna Riojas Kennell, and many
friends and family whom loved her to the moon and beyond.
Tess was kind, yet fierce, brave and resilient - she was the number one fan of so many and if
only she knew how many were impacted by her beauty, heart and grace- she would understand
what she meant to so many! May her spirit shine on.
A Wake / Celebration of Life will be held for Tess Kennell following the holiday season, where
we plan to come together Saturday, January 7th, 2023 to honor and celebrate Tessa in the
home she hosted and honored so many others in. Please be patient as more details will follow.
In Lieu of flowers - donations of time or service may be made towards whatever the family
needs help with, in fixing up and converting her home into a Children's Daycare in Tess's honor,
as part of her legacy, as she loved children and really hoped for her own one day.
