Trevor Richard Rapp

Trevor Richard Rapp passed from this life at his home in Magna, UT, on Friday, August 21st, 2026.

He was born in Reno, NV on February 23rd, 1981, and was raised by his parents, Richard and Ruth Ann Rapp, in Idaho Falls, ID. He was the youngest of three boys and enjoyed a happy childhood as the baby of the family. Trevor was cute, playful, and mischievous as a child. He loved to make people laugh and was always happy. He was energetic, bright, and curious and got good grades in school. He had a fascination with words, and his mother eventually bought him a dictionary of his own because he was always asking about the meaning of words. He loved traveling and going on camping trips with his family and especially enjoyed spending time in Yellowstone National Park. Later in life he was reunited with a sister he had been apart from since early childhood, and he enjoyed a wonderful relationship with her as well as his two brothers.

Trevor served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints in Puerto Rico and received a bachelor’s degree from Ricks College (now Brigham Young University-Idaho).

On June 5th, 2003, he began his military career in the Idaho National Guard. He served as a Health Care Specialist and an Ambulance Aide Driver. In February 2013, he transferred to the Utah National Guard, where he served as CI Agent, Health Care Sergeant, and Combat Medic Specialist. He was promoted to Sergeant in October 2007; to Staff Sergeant in October 2014; and to Sergeant First Class in June 2025. He received numerous medals for his service, including two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. At the time of his death, he was assigned to the Utah Army National Guard Medical Detachment and was serving as a Patient Administration noncommissioned officer. He was deployed to Iraq from November 2004 to October 2005. He also participated in missions in support of African Lion and worked the COVID Task Force mission for the state of Utah.

He married Bryoni Southwick on June 27th, 2008, and they are the parents of three beautiful daughters. Their marriage later ended. Trevor’s life revolved around his girls and being the best father he could to them. He spent many of his weekends travelling back and forth from Salt Lake City to Dietrich, ID so that he could spend as much time with them as possible. He was a devoted father and adored each of his children until the end of his life.

In the summer of 2019, Trevor met the love of his life, Diana Wardell. They both felt that their meeting was divinely orchestrated, beginning from the time Trevor spotted Diana serving food in the cafeteria of the Jordan River Temple until they later met in person in a singles ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They met on July 7th, 2019, and were married just two months later, on September 5th, 2019. Their connection was strong and instantaneous, and they knew they were meant to be together. They were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple on November 28th, 2020. Diana brought a daughter and a son into their union, and Trevor loved them as his own children and was a devoted father to them as to his own girls. Trevor and Diana later welcomed a daughter into their home, completing their “yours, mine, and ours” family.

Trevor focused his attention outward and spent his life uplifting and caring for others. He served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving as Elders Quorum President in his ward at the time of his death. He was gifted in his interactions with others, greeting people with an energetic handshake and making everyone feel special and included. He genuinely wanted to know the story of people’s lives and loved reaching out to others. After his father’s death, he took his mother into his home so she would have companionship and care from him, Diana, and their children. Trevor was a light to all who knew him. His passing has left a void and an ache that will be made bearable over time by the love of the Savior of all mankind. 

He is survived by his wife, Diana Rapp; his mother, Ruth Ann Rapp; his siblings, Brett Rapp, Jeremy Rapp, and Amber Ochoa Hatcher; his children, Genesis Rapp, Mayasit Rapp, Skylar Rapp, Alec Wardell, Katherine Wardell, and Brooklyn Rapp. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Rapp. 

A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, 1:00-3:00 p.m., with a funeral to follow at 3:00 p.m. The viewing and funeral will take place at 3084 S 8400 W, Magna, UT, 84044. Interment will take place in Dietrich Cemetery in Dietrich, ID.
