Tyler James Blust, 37, of Riverton, Utah, passed away on August 31, 2026.
Born on November 12, 1988, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Kristine and George Blust. Tyler lived a life full of passion, connection, and adventure.
He worked as a hibachi chef at Koi Japanese Restaurant and loved cooking for others, always searching for new recipes and spices to try. Tyler found joy in traveling, long-boarding, and going to the skate park. He was talented with fire poi and devoted many hours to practicing and learning new tricks. He was a video game enthusiast and regularly played online with friends. Music was another deep love of his. He loved attending concerts and listened to every genre. He also taught himself how to play guitar to understand it more fully.
Above all, Tyler was a genuine, caring, and empathetic person and a fiercely dedicated friend. People who knew him from elementary, middle, and high school, and every chapter of life afterward, all have stories about the ways he showed up for them. He was the friend you could call after months apart and pick up exactly where you left off. He kept friendships alive and was someone you could count on through the best times and the absolute worst.
With his quick wit, sense of humor, and unique personality, he had a gift for making people laugh when they needed it most. He was truly one of a kind, and many people considered him their best friend.
Tyler was an incredibly loving, thoughtful, creative, intelligent, hilarious, kind, and considerate man who will be missed by more people than he could ever imagine.
