VERL GEORGE BARKER

1948 ~ 2022

Verl George Barker Jr stepped through the other side of the veil on Monday January 17, 2022. He was lovingly surrounded by his family in the comfort of his own home.

Verl entered this life on April 6, 1948 in Moab Utah to his parents Beatrice Cora Starbuck and Verl Geroge Barker Sr. He graduated from Grand County high school in 1966. He played football and lettered in wrestling. He was also known for his mischievous ways in his small town.

Verl married his sweetheart Kathleen Ann Jensen (Katie) on November 22, 1966 in Murray Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1971. Together they had seven beautiful children. Family was the most important thing to him along with his faith. He is grateful for eternal families.

Verl had a love of many things, including: bears, wrestling, square dancing, knives, and especially BYU athletics. He enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren to all the BYU football games. He also loved gardening, and attending his kids and grandkids activities.

Verl was a hard worker and no job was beneath him when it came to supporting his family. Service was also a big part of his life. He was always willing to help anybody and never expected anything in return. Even when he was unemployed he wouldn't accept payment for helping others. He was so loved by all that knew him.

Verl is survived by his wife Kathy, his children Barbara (John), Cindy (Jonnie), Troy (Ann), Jason, Justin (Ashley), Jared (Jennie), April (Adam), bonus daughter Stephanie, 34 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Friday January 21, 2022 from 6-8pm at the Granger South Stake Center on 4251 S 4800 W West Valley City, Utah 84120.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 22, 2022 at 11am with a viewing prior from 10-10:45am also at the Granger South Stake Center.
