Walter Otto Varian, 79, passed away on November 24, 2023, In Salt Lake City, UT. He was born on December 6, 1943 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Walter, known to his loved ones as Walt, was a devoted brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his sister, Lori Denniston; daughter, Becky Varian; son, Kevin Varian (Ericka); and his grandchildren, Jesicka Varian (Ambrose Little), Kendra Varian (Hunter Carlston), Kevin Varian (Jordyn), and Rae Gold (Paul); step-sons, Todd Maas, Scott Maas (Jean); grandchildren, Jamie Lambert (Kyle), Jennifer Maas (Seth), Ashley Sobotta (Matt), Spencer Maas, Chandra Maas; many great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wife, Norma; parents, Eugene & Marion; brothers, Jay and Charlie Varian.
Walter served in the US Navy where he dedicated his time and skills to his military associations. His commitment and service to his country will always be remembered. After leaving the service Walter lived in lowa, where he worked as a professional truck driver until he retired in 2010.

A viewing will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. (Mountain Time) at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. Magna Main St. Magna, UT 84044. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. (Central Time) Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Chapel Hill Cemetery, 4400 Merle Hay Rd., Des Moines, IA 50310.
