Widmer Laibwij. A loving son, father and grandfather took his last breath on September 4th, 2024 at Intermountain Hospital located in Murray, Utah. He was born to Kene Elisha and Shiro Tarmwij on January 12th, 1955 in the Marshall Islands. He grew up with 12 siblings.
Widmer grew up with a big family and always longed for a big family of his own. It was then he finally met his greatest love and his forever, Alinta Laibwij. They got married on June 16th, 1986. They had/raised 8 kids. He worked and became a provider for the family. He made sure his family was healthy, safe and had everything they needed. After years of living in the Islands, Widmer and Alinta came to a decision and decided to move to the States. Sometime in the 1990s, he came to the states with his oldest daughter, Soynia, while the rest stayed back. They lived in Arkansas and he worked until he could finally bring the rest of his family to Arkansas with them. In 2000, he flew them in from the Islands and they started their life together in the States.
They lived a great life in Arkansas, their kids became adults when he and Alinta decided to move to California in 2013 for better health care with their son and his family. Though they loved California, they then decided for the last time to move to Utah with their daughter, Mertha and her family in 2016.
Widmer had many health complications and concerns as he was getting older. Despite his complications, he never failed to put his trust in God. He was a Christian who loved going to church and spreading the Gospel every chance he got, whether it was to family or friends. He also made sure that his own family was going to church. He was the kind of man who loved his family dearly, loved telling jokes and making everybody laugh, loved dancing and singing whether he was alone or had company with him, he also loved praying and giving thanks to God.
We believe there was none other than Alinta and Widmer. They loved and enjoyed every second of their company together. Sadly, Alinta passed away earlier this year in January which caused the family lots of heartache and sadness which then made Widmer a widow. Now, we can happily say that they are not in pain anymore and they’re reunited in Heaven. They are survived by their 8 kids, 31 grandkids and 11 great grandkids and more. The family will miss and love you both greatly. Until we meet again, Bubu and Jimma/Mama and Baba. Thank you both for your love and all you did for us. May you both rest peacefully.
