William Collings

William (Bill) Collings (Papa Choo Choo) 1922 - 2018 -Our beloved father, brother, grandpa, and great-grandpa passed away November 18, 2018, in Herriman, Utah. He was 96 years old.  He died peacefully with his youngest son, Shaun by his side. He was born in Pleasant Green (Magna), UT April 15, 1922, to Thomas William Collings and Martha Dorothy Wolstenholme. He married the love of his life, Mae Burrell June 16, 1943, in the Salt Lake Temple, she passed away October 3, 2006.  He then married Helen Garrish Mills on June 6, 2010, until her death on March 23, 2012.

He attended Cyprus High and was a longtime
resident of Magna. Bill served his country in the army during World War II.
He worked as a Locomotive Engineer for Kennecott for over 43 years. Once
Bill retired he became an avid runner. He ran many marathons, including over 20
St. George Marathons, Deseret News, Boston and he ran his final marathon, The
Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC when he was 86 years old. He was an
active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He especially
loved serving as a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple for 20 years. He
inspired others to be a better version of themselves. Bill was always there to
serve others. The world will not quite be the same without him. He was quite a
character and a big flirt even up to his last days.  His life made an
indelible mark upon countless people. We will miss you, Dad.

He is survived by his children, Kevin
(VaLene), Linda (Jeff) Miller, Kerry (Carol), Chad (Sherrie), Corinne (Steve)
Howick, Lori (James) LaDue, Shaun (Jeanell); sisters, Dorothy Newman and Ruth
Robinette, brothers, Glenn and Lynn Collings, 20 grandchildren; 42
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  Preceded in death by
his wives, Mae Burrell (2006), Helen Mills (2012), brothers, Thomas Erin,
Daniel, Lester, Fred, Perry, Richard Collings, sister, Arlene Hunsaker,
granddaughter, Tamara Cawley Cruz, great-grandson Brody James Gillespie. The
family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Beehive Homes of
Herriman and Encompass Hospice for all the care and concern they have shown.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at the
Magna Utah South Stake, 8181 West Breeze Drive, Magna, Utah 84044-1907. Friends
may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 So., in Magna
and Wednesday 11:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Valley View
Memorial Park, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120.  Condolences may
