Yvonne George

October 1, 1929 — June 18, 2017

Yvonne (Bonnie) Huff George

1929 – 2017

Our dear sweet Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Grandma and loyal friend passed away unexpectedly but very peacefully on June 18, 2017. What an amazing, selfless gift she gave her father Clark, her sweet husband Devoe and her son Wayne on Father’s Day as they welcomed her back into their arms. She was also welcomed on the other side by her mother Wanda, her sister Mildred, her brother Bud, a grandson Kelly, a great granddaughter Camille and more friends than you can count.

Mom was born on October 1, 1929 in Fillmore Utah to Clark Huff and Wanda May Cooper. She was raised in Fillmore and graduated from Millard High School. Mom met her sweetheart William Devoe George at a local dance after Dad had been discharged from fighting in World War II and they were married on June 4, 1948, just a few days after her high school graduation. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple where we became an eternal family.

After mom and dad were married they lived in Kanosh where Madelyn, Wayne and Terry were born before moving to Magna, Utah in 1960.

Mom worked at the Best Shop, a clothing store in Magna for many years where she learned to dress very stylish as she was probably their best customer. Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in the Stake Primary Presidency where she truly loved working with the children and singing primary songs.  She was also a faithful visiting teacher up until the time of her death.  Mom loved her family more than anything else in this world and she loved taking pictures of them. She always had her camera and you always had to be prepared to have your picture taken at any moment even if you had a mouthful of food. However, she did not like her own picture taken and in earlier years, she would cut herself out of any picture taken with her in it. She has spent countless hours making photo albums, with the 1000’s of pictures she has taken, for each one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. This is one of the amazing legacies she left for her family.

The grandkids loved to visit her house because she always had many bags full of candy bars frozen in the freezer and they always got to choose a treat, but we found out that it was mom herself that had the sweet tooth and the candy bars were really for her…….she just shared.

Mom was very soft spoken and never said an unkind word about anyone.

Whenever mom was someplace and she was ready to go home, she would always say she was ready to “skedaddle”. Well mom, you really did skedaddle this time!

Our mom and grandma is survived by her daughter Madelyn (Leland) Ward; her son Terry (Elaine); 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
